Childhood – Combe Down Primary, 6W

I remember it well, we were
happy and carefree.
I remember you like this.
Is this how you’ll remember me?

The glistening swimming pool water
on that endless summer day.
Laughing in our beds late at night,
smiling at hearing you say,

“I’d like the memory of me
to be one of days like these.
The bags of sweets, the water slide,
us climbing in the trees.”

I’ve lost my teddy,
my school bag, my shoe.
But I’ll forever hold the memory
of the day I lost you.

“Scoring my first goal, falling
and scraping my knee.
These times you’ll see so clearly
when you remember me.”
