MUSEUM DANCES

3rd Stage Dance Company - Bristol Museums - Pavilion Dance South West

5th March

2016

3rd Stage Dance Company are excited to be working alongside Pavilion Dance South West and Bristol Museums, holding creative workshops for A-Level and BTEC Dance students, based upon one of the museum’s current exhibitions, ‘Death: The Human Experience’.

The weekly workshops with students from Cotham School and St Brendan’s Sixth Form College are working towards a performance on Saturday 5th March as part of the museum’s Death Fair. The day will consist of talks, activities and stalls offering a practical guide to dealing with death, as well as professional workshops and demonstrations. The dance performances will run throughout the day, taking the format of an exhibition themselves, appearing around the building and giving visitors the option of stopping to observe as they please.

The choreography is inspired by the diverse objects and captivating stories within the exhibition. Led by 3rd Stage dancers Luke Antysz and Sara Mather, the groups have created short pieces as a reflexion on the cultural, spiritual and ethical issues surrounding death. With a mature approach to a somewhat taboo subject, the students have created thought provoking and poignant dance pieces to compliment the exhibition and further encourage conversations about a subject that as a society we are reluctant to talk about.
